A seat at the table – fundraising event in support of SOS Children's Villages Canada

Thursday, June 6, 2024, Bellagio Boutique Event Venue, 8540 Jane Street, Vaughan (Concord), ON

Thank you for a spectacular evening!

We are overwhelmed with gratitude for everyone who attended and supported the inaugural A seat at the table event. Your presence and generosity made it a truly memorable evening!

A heartfelt thank you to our sponsors, special guests, volunteers, and donors for making this event possible. Your unwavering support helps us continue our mission of providing loving homes and brighter futures for children in need worldwide.

Every child deserves a seat at the table of life. Breaking bread together strengthens bonds and relationships by deepening connections around the table and allowing every voice to be heard. The table is where we share, create, celebrate and converse, where children can find their minds and voices.

This event was dedicated to raising funds to support:

  • strengthening families to prevent child abandonment;

  • providing loving homes and families for children who lack parental care;

  • educating and empowering children to reach their full potential; and

  • advocating for children’s rights so their voices can be heard.

Together, we are making a difference. From all of us at SOS Children’s Villages Canada, thank you! See you all next year.

Regina |  former sponsored child from SOS Children’s Villages Ghana

Regina was abandoned before her first birthday, a baby left outside a hospital in Tema, Ghana. At that moment, her life could have gone in countless directions, many of them too horrific to think about. She was found and brought to the SOS Village in Tema.

As a child, Regina was always driven to learn. While other children were playing, she was at home, studying and reading. Her mom, SOS Mother, Francisca, showed her there was a way to a better life. Every morning, she would call on Regina to watch the students of SOS Hermann Gmeiner International College, a high school that offered International Baccalaureate programming, as they walked past their home. “Regina, come and see; this could be you,” she would say, pointing to the students in their distinctive blue school uniforms. “Once you are able to go to international college, you will be able to go anywhere in the world that you choose.”

Regina is living proof of the bright future made possible for every child welcomed into an SOS Children’s Villages home.
