About SOS Youth Ambassadors

 

Youth Ambassadors have the opportunity to help ensure that children all over the world have loving homes, quality schools, medical care, and hope for the future – something many of us take for granted. Youth Ambassadors connect with others from across the country on special campaigns and projects.

 

In 2015, this includes joining forces with the Canadian Senator Jim Munson to ensure that young people from coast to coast share their views on why and how children without parental care must be integrated into the post-2015 United Nations sustainable development framework.

Are you a student who wants to make a difference in the lives of orphaned and abandoned children? There are many ways in which you can help support our work: SOS Youth Ambassadors are volunteers that raise awareness, advocate for children and organize fundraisers. Need some inspiration? See what these young people have done in their partnerships with SOS:

Hewan Wossene, SOS Children's VIllages Youth AmbassadorHewan Wossene

Hewan Wossene is a former student at the SOS School in Hawassa, Ethiopia. She now lives in Canada, and is raising funds to support the community that raised her. She will be visiting Ethiopia, and through her experience in film-making, she will be documenting her trip in a video.

 

Capri Everitt, SOS Children's VIllages Youth AmbassadorCapri Everitt

Capri Everitt is a determined 10 year old girl with a powerful voice. She has travelled to 80 countries to sing their national anthem, raising her voice to help children without one, through SOS Children’s Villages.

Capri holds the Guinness World Record for Most national anthems sung in their host countries in one year. 

Divine Usabase, SOS Children's VIllages Youth AmbassadorDivine Usabase

Divine Usabase grew up in the SOS Village in Muyinga, Burundi and later attended the Herman Gmeiner International College in Ghana. Now a student at McGill University, Divine has been a speaker and guest of honour at various events in Montreal and Ottawa where she shares her story.

 

 

What Would You Do?

  2. You can gain transferable skills through hands on experiences. Your involvement may lead you to discover and refine skills you didn’t know you had. It will grow your ability to communicate, advocate, think critically, organize, and manage events.
