It’s a flour, it’s a source of ethanol, it’s a sweetener, it’s a popular livestock feed; so what exactly is it you may ask?
Everyone kept mentioning how amazing the markets in Africa are, so I wanted to experience one for myself. Every direction was swarming with people, music was blaring and the smell of spices filled the air. The local market was spectacular! Little did I know that there’d be frog legs and worms!
The SOS Village had its own dog, Whitey!
When you enter the Village it feels as if you have travelled back in time. All of the children are outside enjoying themselves with no electronics! You can find children outdoors, enjoying the fresh air, playing pick-up basketball or soccer, or gathering the rest of the children to play a game of hide-and-go-seek.
Even with a washing machine, laundry day at the Village was an adventure!
I had no idea what to expect on my first morning as an SOS mother! But, to my surprise the children were beyond helpful.
My mornings as a mom in Namibia to Canada aren’t that different. But, it definitely feels more chaotic in my home in Toronto!
I had the pleasure of staying at an SOS Children's Village in Namibia. The Village provides over 100 children with a loving home and essential care.
The SOS home ran on a strict schedule starting at 5 a.m. This helped to cut down the chaos that comes with getting 8 kids ready in the morning.
