About the show
Inspired by the richness of the Mexican culture, LUZIA is Cirque du Soleil’s 38th original production since 1984. The name LUZIA fuses the sound of “luz” (light in Spanish) and “lluvia” (rain), two elements at the core of the show’s creation.
Some moments of sheer beauty become forever etched in our memory. Time seems to suddenly stand still, immortalized in freeze-frame images that inspire awe and admiration. Creating, capturing and offering these fleeting moments of wonder – these dreamlike states – are part of what Cirque du Soleil captures in LUZIA.
LUZIA was developed by a sixteen member creative team under the artistic guidance of Guy Laliberté and Jean-François Bouchard. Since its beginnings, Cirque du Soleil has brought wonder and delight to more than 155 million spectators in more than 300 cities on six continents. The company has close to 4,000 employees, including 1,300 performing artists from close to 50 different countries.
