Children attending the school come from both the SOS Children’s Village Basse and from the local community.
SOS Children's Villages encourages the children at our SOS Children's Villages to interact with local children, and we want our facilities to benefit those who live near them. Nine personnel have been employed at the school: six teachers, the director and two administrators.
In April 2010, the SOS Social Centre Basse (family strengthening, community support) started to operate. The SOS Social Centre Basse addresses the following: Changes in traditional kinship practices (loss of extended family support network).
Lack of community structures to support and care for orphans and vulnerable children and their families, Inadequate psychosocial support during and after parental illness or death, Economic insecurity within households (especially in the cases of sibling headed and grand-parent headed households), High number of young/teenage single mothers.
