Mike Holmes lends a hand to a different kind of building project
12/22/2005 - Ottawa, Canada: Mike Holmes, familiar to viewers across the country as the contractor with a conscience, is lending his support to an organization that builds families, homes and futures for the world's orphaned and abandoned children. Mr. Holmes will be front and centre on an upcoming television campaign for SOS Children's Villages Canada.
The campaign, which begins running on December 26, will air a combination of 30 second, one minute and two minute spots on HGTV, CBC Newsworld, BRAVO, W Network and Ottawa CTV station – CJOH. Based in Ottawa, SOS Children's Villages Canada is a member of SOS Children's Villages International, one of the world's largest child focused charities.
Operating in more than 130 countries, SOS Children's Villages, provides long-term care within a family setting to some of the world’s most vulnerable children.
The popular host of the HGTV hit series Holmes on Homes, Mike Holmes brings more than 20 years of professional experience as a contractor to the show that has home- owners and handymen from all walks of life glued to the screen.
A knowledgeable and reliable craftsman who cares about his work, Mr. Holmes understands the building trade and shares his unique perspective and extensive knowledge with his viewing audience and clients who have been taken for a ride by unscrupulous contractors and builders.
"We are obviously delighted that Mr. Holmes is lending his support to SOS Children's Villages Canada," said Boyd McBride, the organization's National Director. "Mr. Holmes represents the kind of qualities which we feel also define our work with so many of the children of the world who have fallen through the cracks – a long track record of responsibility, dependability and a strong commitment to changing people’s lives for the better. His results stand the test of time and so does the work carried out by SOS Children's Villages around the world. Mr. Holmes also has a very large and devoted audience who we know will respond to his message," Mr. McBride continued.
Commenting on the visibility Mike Holmes will lend to the SOS Children's Villages campaign, Mr. McBride said, "I guess we can borrow a phrase from Holmes on Homes and say, 'this time we called the right guy'."
