SOS Children's Villages Pachacamac
The SOS Children's Village was built on a more than 2 hectares site in the countryside of Pachacamac district about 40km from Lima. The population of this area lives mainly on agriculture and cattle breeding.
SOS Children's Village Pachacamac consists of eight family houses, where up to seventy children can find a new home. Each house has a living room with a dining area, a kitchen, four bedrooms, a bathroom, a laundry and a terrace. In addition to the family houses, there is the village director's house, an administration and service area, three multi-purpose halls, and two workshops, where carpentry, tailoring and gardening are taught.
The village has its own sports ground, where the children can play and have fun. Small animals such as poultry and rabbits are kept in coops and hutches. There is a vegetable garden where the mothers grow the vegetables they need for their cooking.
The children and co-workers from the SOS Children's Village use the kindergartens, schools, health centres and shopping facilities in the vicinity. This ensures that they are well integrated within the community.
