A Mother Like No Other - SOS Mother Joumana
“My favourite part of the day is when the children come back from school,” Joumana, SOS mother, SOS Children’s Village Bhersaf in Lebanon.
“What I like best about my job are my children. I love them so much, they are the reason I joined SOS Children’s Villages in the first place – to become a mother.
My favourite part of the day is when the children come back from school. One of my children often says, ‘When I come home, open your arms so I can run into your arms and hug you.’ They liven up my day.
Every year on Mother’s Day, I have the happiest memories, especially from my two youngest children. They do not have biological parents, so when they say to me ‘Happy Mother’s Day’ it means more to me than the world.
Raising the children is a huge challenge, seeing as they come from bad situations and they need help. However, as hard as it is, I love it. It’s part of being a mother – learning how to help them and raise them as best I can.”
Joumana joined SOS Children’s Villages in April 2013. She now takes care of five children.
