YouthCan! Facts and Figures 2023 is now available
Worldwide, 287 million young people are neither in education, employment, or training. That accounts for 23.5% of young people aged 15-24. Young people growing up without adequate parental care are particularly disadvantaged in searching for employment or setting up a business, as they lack the education and training opportunities and family support networks their peers have.
YouthCan! is a global program focused on employability and entrepreneurship, designed to help young people who have lost parental care or are at risk of losing it transition successfully from school to decent work and independent living. The program tailors its approach to the individual needs of young people and the specific conditions of their local environments.
In 2023, YouthCan! supported 17,800 young people across 50 countries with the help of 1,758 corporate volunteers and expert trainers. They provided young people with employability and entrepreneurship training, mentorship, or accompaniment during their first work experiences in person and online. The report was launched on June 16 at the UN High-Level Political Forum side event, Partnerships that work: Cooperation around youth skills for youth-led SDG achievement. Here is what a panel of youth from around the world had to say about YouthCan!.
