Location: Ottawa, onsite with possibility of hybrid post-probation period

About the role

 

Reporting to the Director of Finance, you will support daily and monthly financial accounting and reporting activities. Your schedule will align with the monthly reporting cycle, averaging one day per week in the first half of the month and increasing to two days per week in the second half. Office hours are Monday to Friday - 9 am to 5 pm.

 

Core responsibilities

 

  • Assist in the daily and monthly financial accounting and reporting tasks, including:

     

    • Accounts Payable/Receivable

     

    • Expense claim processing

       

    • Monthly donation revenue processing & reconciliation

       

    • Journal entries

       

    • Payroll processing

       

    • Bank reconciliations

       

    • Assist with monthly financial statement preparation

       

    • Prepare statutory reporting and remittances per reporting requirements

       

  • Maintain accurate financial records and ensure compliance with accounting standards

 

Desired Skills and Qualifications:

 

  • Post-secondary education in Financial Accounting or equivalent work experience

     

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a full-cycle accounting role

     

  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel (formulas, pivot tables)

     

  • Strong understanding of QuickBooks Desktop or Online

     

  • Experience with online banking platforms, electronic funds transfers

     

  • Excellent analytical, creative thinking, and problem-solving skills

     

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy

     

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

     

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team 

     

  • Experience in Charitable Sector an asset
